Cranial Sacral Therapy is a 109 year old discipline. It is the legacy of Dr. William Garner Sutherland D.O., whose epic 54 year journey of discovery has left the world a remarkable healing modality; a dynamically effective tool for a wide range of physical and emotional challenges. The foundation of this alternative approach to healing is based on the physiological knowledge that all healthy living tissues breath rhythmically with the motion of the Divine Ordering Principle, sometimes referred to as the Breath of Life. Practitioners of this discipline are trained to be aware of these subtle fluidic manifestations as they course through the body creating recognizable patterns. These rhythmic patterns include the fluctuations of cerebrospinal fluid, which is responsible not only for bathing and nourishing the central nervous system, but as a conveyor of instant communication of homeostasis to every cell in the body. Our focus as practitioners is to re-establish the relationship between the dysfunction at both the cellular and tissue level with the Divine Ordering Principle. Observation of this process (the witnessing presence) creates a therapeutic response within the system and facilitates an increase in function throughout the entire organism. Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy is a simple, direct means for tapping into the body's inherent healing intelligence, which we call "The Breath of Life." It is one of the most effective and fastest growing approaches to mind-body healing. I have personally used it very successfully for numerous challenges including migraine headaches, fibromyalgia,TMJ pains, strabismus, and muscular and joint pain throughout the body. It is an extremely gentle approach that is done with the client/patient fully clothed.
The American Cancer Society understands that Craniosacral Therapy can be a beneficial, non-invasive addition to a cancer patient's treatment regimen, as it may relieve pain and headaches and lessen patient discomfort. When used in harmony with conventional cancer management methods, such as chemotherapy, Craniosacral Therapy may promote a sense of calm and is said to aid in the function of a cancer sufferer's immune system. Those therapist who may be interested in working with patients who are challenged by mesotheolima, check out this site: Mesothelioma "Judah, I'm still reeling from class. I think it changed my approach to bodywork from this moment on. My visualization of the body's tissue field is more fluid conscious. I worked on 5 clients today (2 cranial) and my sense of their tissue is much different than before. Wow. I am creating my own techniques to work in the field in a massage context. Anyway I am on my quest to deepen my knowlege of anatomy and physiology to enhance my power of intention direction! Thanks so much for developing into an awesome, compassionate, and gifted teacher and sharing yourself with all of us." Jackie Wayda L.M.T. - Hinckley, Ohio |
