What is Structural Integration?  >  top

Structural Integration is based on the lifetime work of Dr, Ida P. Rolf. The goal of Structural Integration is to re-educate the body through a disciplined and intuitive touch. Structural Integration is based on the belief that gravity is a force that impacts an individual's structure in a profound manner. SI is a system of manipulation that releases patterns, both emotional and physical, that have been absorbed in the body. Structural Integration concerns itself mainly with the myofascial systems. Connective tissue encompasses all the major systems of the body. When there are imbalances in the myofascial systems, pain, stiffness and the loss of range of movement manifest themselves. By the lengthening and releasing of the fascia, the body inherently has more flexibility and freedom. This very often translates into a pain free condition and greater athletic performance. Postural improvement is another of the benefits that is often experienced after the ten session series of Structural Integration.

What is Cranial Sacral Therapy?
 >  top

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the craniosacral system -- the physiological body system comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It is a very gentle method that only requires 5 grams of pressure (the weight of a nickel) to be effective.

Will I be able to call myself a Rolfer after finishing the course?
 >  top

No, you will not. The term is only granted to those who have graduated from the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration which is located in Boulder, Colorado. But, you may say that you have studied with a graduate of the Rolf Institute, and have the knowledge to perform the ten session series that Dr. Rolf left as her legacy.

Will there be continuing education?
 >  top

Yes, after students have graduated and implemented the work in their practices, there will be continuing education into fascial manipulation, energy work.
